Orchestra Gives Back
Spring has sprung and the Orchestra Software team is busy volunteering, by giving back to the local community. Every quarter Orchestra Software, the team that powers OrchestratedBEER, also organizes volunteer outings for it’s employees. In addition to a blood drive and bone marrow registry, the team volunteered at the Oregon Food Bank and Dress for Success.
Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registry
On March 21st, Orchestra partnered with Bloodworks NW to hold a mobile blood drive. Bloodworks NW was able to collect from the nearly 30 Orchestra Software donors.
In addition to the blood drive, Be The Match was also in the office, offering the opportunity to join the bone marrow registry by a simple cheek swab. According to Be The Match, 14,000 patients [worldwide, in America? Each Day, Annually?] need a donation from someone outside of their family. Orchestra had 20% of it’s employees register with Be the Match.
Oregon Food Bank
Orchestra had two teams of volunteers give back to the local Oregon Food Bank. One team spent time at the Beaverton location, sorting meat and refrigerated goods for distribution. Another team volunteered in Northeast Portland, bagging and boxing Pinto Beans. Over Ten thousand pounds of beans were packaged for 8,770 meals!
Dress for Success
The team also went to Dress for Success Oregon. Here they sorted bins of clothing, shoes, and accessories to determine if they were good enough to be worn for interviews.
Dress for Success provides clothing for women in order to achieve success in the workplace and everyday life. Last year, Dress for Success Oregon helped 617 women get jobs and those women are now contributing $16 million into the local economy.
Here at Orchestra Software, it’s important for us to keep with the values and culture of our company by giving back to the community in which the team works and lives.
