10 New Beers to Try in 2018

A new year means a new line up of beers from breweries across the country. A few weeks ago we took a look at craft beer trends we expect to see in 2018. With the initial announcements of 2018 releases, it’s clear that a lot those trends are already looking popular in 2018. Here are 10 of our ‘New Beers to Try in 2018,’ from breweries currently using OrchestratedBEER.

The Bruery – PB & Jelly Thursday

PB & Jelly Thursday is a new release and part of The Bruery’s Reserve Society, where members have access to this Thursday version, originally inspired by their Black Tuesday. This version is slightly different than what they released last year, which was a PB only version, though this year they included an addition of boysenberries to make this a true peanut butter and jelly stout.

Style: Imperial Stout
ABV: 19.2%

Left Hand Brewing – Chai Milk Stout Nitro

Left Hand is known for their Nitro Milk Stouts, but the early 2018 seasonal release will be a Chai style version, available only in cans. In addition, Chai Milk Stout is one of two nitro cans to make the list, so it looks like it’s trend to watch in 2018.

Style: Milk Stout
ABV: 5%

Cascade Brewing – Melonious Blonde

Cascade’s release of this Blond and Wheat Ale blend will be their first limited release of 2018. Barrel aged for 12 months with Northwest grown cantaloupe and summer kiss melons, this March release will be perfect to get you ready for Spring.

Style: Sour
ABV: 7%

Firestone Walker Brewing – Merlin Milk Stout Nitro

So this isn’t exactly a new beer from Firestone Walker, however, it marks the first time that their Merlin Milk Stout Nitro will be available in cans. This change in packaging elevates this beer from being a tap only exclusive to now being available in your beer fridge.

Style: Milk Stout
ABV: 5.5%

Odell Brewing – Settle Down Brown

Odell Brewing is adding another seasonal to their list this winter. Their Settle Down Brown is the perfect addition to Odell’s already impressive collection. Coming in at 6.5%, it’s the perfect beer to settle down with on a chilly winter day.

Style: Brown Ale
ABV: 6.5%

Terrapin Beer Co. – Beyond the Galaxy

Beyond the Galaxy is Terrapin’s newest seasonal release, replacing their well known Mosaic IPA. This single hop IPA features, you guessed it, Galaxy hops.

Style: IPA
ABV: 6.3%

Buoy Beer Co. – Love, Lost at Sea

Love, Lost at Sea, will be part of a small batch series launched by Buoy. This wax dipped Barleywine was aged in whiskey barrels for 5 months, marking the start of Buoy’s new barrel aging program.

Style: Barleywine
ABV: 11.8%

Melvin Brewing & Rhinegeist – Experimental J-Hole

A collaboration by our friends at Melvin and Rhinegeist, this Red IPA is the perfect blend of both breweries. Melvin has expanded their collaboration program over the course of the past year, and we expect this to be a continued trend throughout 2018.

Style: Red IPA
ABV: 7%

Other Half Brewing – Oh… Forever

A DIPA version of their IPA Oh.., this 8.5% beer features Citra, Galaxy, Motueka and Citra Lupulin Powder. As an added bonus, they are also getting ready to release a tone downed version of their Double Mosaic Dream, taking that beer from a DIPA to a slightly more tame IPA.

Style: DIPA
ABV: 8.5%

Heavy Seas Beer – AmeriCannon

This Pale Ale from Heavy Seas is one they are adding to their year-round collection. The beer also features Simcoe lupulin hop powder, a trend we also talked about with Other Half. This new hop formula is making the rounds and offers a different way of extracting the flavor from hops, by concentrating the lupulin in a powder. This brew is the first time Heavy Seas has used this process, and we expect to see more breweries jumping on the trend.

Style: Pale Ale
ABV: 5.75%
