The OBeer 4.4 release focused on some new additions like automated retail transfers to tasting rooms as well as allowing users to mass update information in order to keep up with the fast paced business.
4.4 also marks the official launch of our latest mobile application: Inventory. We’re especially excited about this new app (which people have been begging for months) which will allow you to manage shipments, receiving and count inventory on an iPad. More on that in a follow-up post.
What’s new in OBeer 4.4?
1. Automated Retail Transfers (for Tasting rooms & Tap rooms)
Since tasting rooms are one of the key drivers of profitability, we wanted to make inventory transfers a seamless process. The Buy/Sell method is best to properly account for any inventory movement, but it’s is often a manual process in QuickBooks and other brewery management software solutions.
The new Retail Transfer feature in OBeer 4.4 streamlines the process of moving product between your brewery and tasting room quickly and easily, while providing the added visibility and reporting that’ll make Penny the Accountant happy.
Users can choose to process the transaction via a Goods Receipt PO / Delivery, A/R & A/P Invoice, or A/R & A/P Invoice with automatic reconciliation. Batches from the items pulled from inventory are automatically associated with the purchase document.
2. Production Scheduler Updates
With so many moving parts in production the smallest changes like a date on one production order can cause a chain reaction for the rest – (some call it “The Butterfly Effect”)
With this in mind, the updated production scheduler in 4.4 allows any subsequent production order downstream that’s part of the same production run to have its dates automatically adjust as you change production schedules. For example, you can drag & drop the first turn out of the brew house to a later date and watch the production scheduler auto adjust all proceeding production orders associated with the same batch.
Furthermore, you can enable the new “Check ATP” function on the scheduler to quickly visualize how changes will effect available inventory on planned sales orders at a future date. Any sales orders that are not “Available-To-Promise” will show up in red to help you identify inventory shortages at the time of shipment.
3. New Reports & Analysis Tools
We’ve also added a number of new reports and analysis tools to make your life easier. From accounting to state tax reporting to inventory and aging reports – we’re adding continual value with each and every release. Check out the new tools and reports below:

4. New Mobile Inventory App
We saved the best for last. A whole new way to manage inventory from a mobile device is now available for OBeer users.
